This online tutorial will provide participants with an overview of the Structured Decision Making (SDM) System for Child Protection.  Participants will hear about the research behind the SDM tools and the structure and function of the specific tools adopted by Vermont Department for Children and Families, Family Services Division.  Participants will also be provided with policy and practice guidelines that inform utilization of the SDM tools in Vermont.  

The YASI, or Youth Assessment & Screening Instrument, is a tool used to evaluate a child's strengths (protective factors), needs, and risk. The results of the pre-screen, assessment, and reassessment are used to inform case plans and measure progress.

This training is for FSD workers and partners who work with youth involved in the Juvenile Justice System. 

Once you submit the request for access, you will be contacted by a Training Coordinator who will provide you with your license number, login credentials, and a link to the training site. You will have 90 days to complete the training once you have been assigned a license.
