Vermont CWTP Open Courses

In this course, you will learn what you can do to support students’ social-emotional learning and resilience. The strategies we’ll describe in this introductory e-learning are “trauma-informed,” meaning that they can be used to support all students, including those who have experienced trauma.

This brief overview will introduce you to the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) tool, how it is being used for collaborative case planning to support positive outcomes for children and youth in Vermont, and how you can get more CANS information and training for yourself and those with whom you work.

This course is designed for people who are raising the children and youth of relatives and family friends when the children’s parents are unable to raise them. They may be permanent guardians, temporary or informal caregivers, have conditional custody, or help out in times of need. Those who work with these caregivers are also welcome to take the course.
